RadCast’s back, alright 🔥🧨🔥!
Now that we’ve got our inner Madonna moment out the way, all we can say is that it’s been a hectic few months here at RadCast HQ. From the Roentgen radiology anatomy competition to releasing our Core Radiology Playbook, and Muhammad bribing his way through the FRCR 2B inbetween, it’s been nonstop for us behind the scenes. But now we’re back. Locked and loaded. So strap in, get comfy and here more about the changes we’ve made to help you nail the 2024-2025 clinical radiology applications.

Goodbye CRAC 👋, Hello CRAIC 🫶
After years of addiction, we decided it was time for an intervention. You see, we made the Clinical Radiology Application Course (CRAC) back in 2018. Not only did we have less grey hairs then, but the radiology application was totally different. Everything was “shush shush, wink wink” with no information about even the portfolio being readily available. But just like our waistlines, things have changed since then. Whilst we did regularly update the course here and there, we thought that this year we’d do a total revamp. That’s why we’re now pleased to invite you to our Clinical Radiology Application & Interview Course (CRAIC)!

Inspired by our Irish friends, CRAIC (pronounced krak) means an “enjoyable social activity; a good time” and that’s exactly how we want you to view the course. From the ground up, we’ve revamped the course in terms of the webpage to the curriculum structure. Plus, we’ve updated existing modules where needed and that’s just the beginning. New for 2024 is an entire section where we provide model answers to the new prioritisation questions and specialty skill questions asked at interview. For those of you already enrolled, you’ll be able to access these new modules from day 1. But we’re not done just yet! We’re also now accepting accepting entries for the 2024-2025 national clinical radiology audit/reflective prizes with the guidelines being available on the course webpage.
So, if you’re looking to get a competitive head start in your application, then sign up to the CRAIC via the button below. After you enroll, you’ll get an email with the link to join our exclusive community where you can get the latest application information & opportunities (and have a laugh with us along the way).
MedEd 2.0? More Like MedEd 8.0!
What does an educator love the most? Is it a pay-rise? Is it getting an extra day of leave? Is it the smell of freshly washed linen? Nope, nope and nope. It’s actually the intoxicating euphoria of receiving feedback with constructive criticism #pureecstasy. And just like any other educator, we’re no different here at RadCast.

You see, we’ve been reviewing all our courses in depth over the last several months. From the course webpage to the course content, we’ve been working hard to identify how to make each course relevant to your needs and goals. So when it came time to dissect the MedEd course, we realised there were several things we could do to take the course to the next level.
First things first, future iterations of the 2-day MedEd course will be held virtually, face-to-face with 10 candidates maximum per cohort. Why? Because bigger isn’t necessarily always better (naughty, naughty) and not because we want you to be traumatised by Muhammad’s ugly mug (which only a mother could love). Rather, we’ve realised that smaller groups allow for more engagement and interaction which is what learning should be all about. We’ll still be recording the content so if that’s all you’re after, you can still benefit from the 2 day course.
Another change is the teaching element of the course. After listening to the feedback you’ve given us, we’ll now be offering those who enroll two opportunities for teaching where they’ll be able to receive feedback. The first will be through a micro-teach with candidates receiving peer-to-peer feedback. The second opportunity will be through delivery of a short, radiology focused teaching session as part of the RadCast Academy National Teaching Initiative (RCANTI). As part of this, your radiology teaching will be showcased on our website for medical students across the globe. We’ll then collate feedback on your behalf which you can then use to showcase your development as an educator.
Going forward, the next date of the MedEd course will be the 28th and 29th of September 2024 (to be held over Zoom). We will have a maximum of 10 candidates per cohort. To find out more details, click on the button below:
How To Smash The MSRA Video
Ah the dreaded MSRA. Another year of traumatising an entire generation of doctors is upon us. But fret not, we are here to give thee a helping hand. Specifically, we reached out to our 2023-2024 RadCast alumni to see who held the bragging rights for the best MSRA score. It didn’t take long to find our knight in shining armour and within no time, we were able to lock in Dr Alex Bow and get his top tips on how he scored a whopping 608 in his MSRA 🔥🚀. Winter Is Coming, Gearing Up For Radiology Applications 2024
Alas it is September which can only mean one thing. Application season is around the corner. For most of you, this is peak application preparation time. In particular, you should either be doing portfolio work or MSRA revision; ideally, you’re doing both. We call this period between now and the applications opening on Oriel the “Golden” time. Why? Because anything you do now will compound once the applications open. One MSRA question today means one less for tomorrow. One audit completed now means one less to do later.
Now don’t get it twisted, this isn’t some hipster lets “all hug each other and feel good about ourselves”. No, far from it in fact. You need to work your butt off and work your butt off now. Looking into our crystal ball, the competition this year is only going to go one way and that is up (not like the price of our bitcoin 🥲). Anything you can do now to get a competitive edge, you should grasp with both arms and do not let go.
With that being said, our virtual doors are always open for guidance. Just hit us up via hello@radcast.co.uk and we’ll get back to you. Yes we know that we’ve been a bit slow because of the platform revamp, but we’re now locked in to answer any questions and clean up the backlog of emails.
Till next time,
From your ‘is the application open on Oriel yet’ friends,
Muhammad, Uzoma and Jamie
RadCast Co-Founders
Well done! Thank you for the Friday laughs 👏 👏 👏
