Once They're Gone, They're Gone: Final Seats For The Roentgen Competition!
Only 18 Seats Left For The Roentgen Competition & Invite For Portfolio Guidance
Happy Monday the 10th of July RadCasters!
Is it just us or has it been pretty uneventful in the last few weeks? Like we definitely didn’t miss out on Consultants voting to go on strike in England. Nor did we totally forget about the 75th anniversary of the NHS. And you bet your bottom dollar we didn’t skim past the publication of the NHS long term plan that talks about how the workforce will change. Honestly, nothing comes to mind at all…
But we digress since of course, the only newsworthy piece of information is that there are only 18 seats left for the Roentgen Radiology Anatomy International Competition 2023 (scheduled for the 22nd of July). Yes, you heard that right. Only 18 seats left (at the time of writing this amazing newsletter edition). Once they’re gone, they’re gone and please note, we only run this competition once a year.
If you’re not sure what the Roentgen competition is, here’s a quick rundown. Aptly named after Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, the absolute G who discovered X-rays, the Roentgen competition is a radiology anatomy spotter exam. Over the course of 60 minutes, you’ll be faced with 50 radiology anatomy images. Now, you could be asked to simply name the structure indicated on the image or if we’re being really mean, we could ask you to name a structure related to it e.g. name the nerve that passes through the foramen. In terms of what radiology modalities will be included, it’ll be a mix of the ones commonly encountered in everyday clinical practice e.g. X-rays, CT, MRI etc.
The questions are tailored based on the radiology anatomy you should know as a final year medical student and also, the common radiology anatomy that catches out junior doctors early on in their medical careers i.e. gets mistaken for being abnormal when it’s actually a normal anatomical variant (we’re looking at you ossicles).
To reserve one of the final 18 seats left, just click on the button below.
After the registration deadline, we’ll be in touch to get some more information from you and all that’s next is for you to get ready for the competition which will be held virtually on the 22nd of July 2023 at 10am to 12pm (GMT+1). In terms of prep for the competition, we’ve provided our suggested ‘reading’ material which you can find on the competition website (click on the button below).
