Bank Holiday Bonanza
ACF Applications Are Open, Radiology Crash Course Sign-Ups & MedEd Cohort 4
Good evening fellow RadCastees (we’re trying to think of cute names for our community and would value any feedback on suitable ideas),
Summer bank holiday is upon us and that can only mean two things. You’re either getting a tan tomorrow or you’ll be hurling profanities at your fellow colleagues tomorrow on the wards. If you’re in the former group, make sure to wear sunscreen. If you’re in the latter, make sure to contact us so we can send you some top tier swearwords.
Regardless of what you’re up to tomorrow, there are some important updates we wanted to share with as we prepare for application season to once again grace us with its presence (and all the bullsh*t you’ll have to deal with). So, let’s get stuck in:
Academic Clinical Fellowship (ACF) Applications Are Opening Up
For those you thinking of applying for the academic clinical fellowship route *cough* nerds *cough*, please make sure you’re keeping an eagle eye view on Oriel. Already, one ACF application has already popped up and we anticipate more will be opening up in the coming weeks.
Remember, applications for the ACF open and close earlier than the national recruitment for radiology.
If you’re thinking of applying for the ACF and need some support, please make sure to get in touch via the button below. Every year we get a handful of ACF applicants and the process is a lot more intense than the national recruitment. Things such as white space questions, explaining why you’re the next best thing since sliced bread and the interview format are all different. So, it’s important you are prepared since “failing to prepare, prepare to fail” (we love this quote).
Radiology Crash Course V2 Reminder
If you’ve been living under a rock, you may not have heard that our signature Radiology Crash Course is back and scheduled for the 10th of September! Bigger, bolder and more badass, we’ve added new modules to the course and the pre-recorded content is already available to watch now. Plus, there are national prizes up for grabs for the best radiology audit and reflection (who doesn’t love a juicy prize)! From the need to know physics of CT (without the boredom) to smashing that CTPA, our Crash Course has you covered. So, if you’re interested in becoming a whizz kid at radiology and not sweating buckets when dealing with a CXR on the ward, then sign up via the button below:
MedEd Cohort 4 Reminder
After 3 successful cohorts, we’re now inviting you all, our beautiful RadCastees, to join Cohort 4 of our 8-week medical education programme. It’s scheduled to go live tomorrow and over the 8-weeks, you’ll learn the fundamentals of becoming a better clinical educator. From learning what the flip learning objectives are to understanding the different learning theories, we’ll get you up to speed and take your teaching to the next level. Honestly, we know the science of pedagogy (which sounds like a breed of dog) can be SOOOO boring and that’s why we’ve sprinkled some of our RadCast love, which is hugely addictive, to the mix to make our MedEd programme fun, interesting and actually useful!
Plus, there are opportunities to deliver radiology focused teaching through the RadCast Academy National Teaching Initiative (RCANTI) which can help beef up your portfolio.

Winter Is Coming…
The next few months are gonna be hectic for both of us. This is typically the time all of us at RadCast roll up our sleeves and our X-Ray themed socks as we prepare for the application season to begin. For you, this is now about making the most of your time. Ideally, at this stage you’re putting the final touches on your portfolio and ramping up MSRA prep. We’ll keep hammering on this point, and trust us, but your portfolio is your safety-net from the MSRA. So, work on getting as many points as you can in the remaining time you have because the next beast to slay is the MSRA (vomits).
As always, we’re happy to answer any questions you have or just give be your agony aunt. Just send us an email to hello@radcast.co.uk.
Till next time RadCastees (does this sound cringe or is it just me),
From your ‘mum, I don’t take the photos! I’m still a doctor’ friends,
